Awkward Relationships (video)
As part of our teaching series "Love At Last Sight," my friends Miguel and Lucas shot a video of them lip-syncing the song "Jenny" by Flight of the Conchords. The song fit perfectly with the topic for the day: "The Art of Risking Awkwardness."
Is there a relationship that is broken or hurting in your life? Perhaps you need to risk a little bit of awkwardness to begin reestablishing the relationship. Hopefully your conversation won't be as awkward as the one in the video. But that awkward conversation might just lead to the best relationship you've ever had.
Enjoy the video and the laugh!

Music Nerd Joke
Okay, so I was a music major in college, and thus find this joke absolutely hilarious. If you don't understand it, that's okay, but for the 2 or 3 people out there who appreciate humor like this, here you go! (Thanks to Chad and Tye for sharing it!)D comes in and heads for the bathroom saying, "Excuse me.I'll just be a second." Then A comes in, but the bartender is not convinced that this relative of C is not a minor.
Then the bartender notices B-flat hiding at the end of the bar and says, "Get out! You're the seventh minor I've found in this bar tonight."
E-Flat comes back the next night in a three-piece suit with nicely shined shoes. The bartender says, "you're looking sharp tonight. Come on in, this could be a major development." Sure enough, E-flat soon takes off his suit and everything else, and is au natural.
Eventually C sobers up and realizes in horror that he's under a rest. C is brought to trial, found guilty of contributing to the diminution of a minor, and is sentenced to 10 years of D.S. without Coda at an upscale correctional facility.

Another Windows Jab from Apple...
A fellow Mac-user popped his head in my office earlier today and showed me an inside joke Apple has built into their OS. With Apple's current operating system (10.5 aka Leopard), there is this really cool feature called "QuickLook". While browsing in a Finder window, if you highlight a document or picture, you can hit the space bar which brings up the document or the picture so you can see it without opening the program that actually created the file - in other words, you can take a quick look at what is in the file.Wednesday, August 20, 2008

This stinks!
I walked in to my office today and was greeting by a horrible smell. I can't tell whether it is dirty diapers, a dead mouse in the wall, or extreme mustiness from last night's rain. Just to make sure my nose was working correctly, I asked someone else to step into my office and confirm the stench. Yep, my office stinks. After grabbing an ionizer to try and freshen the scent in my office, I unpacked my laptop and ran through the couple of sites I tend to check each day. One of those sites is MacZot.com, a site that sells one Mac software program each day at an extreme discount. I have yet to buy a program - I primarily visit the site to enter their "NextZot" competition. One lucky person receives the next day's "zot" for free. I'll probably never win, but I can dream.
Today's "zot" is just too ironic. With a stinky office surrounding me, I learn that today's deal is for a program called...
Decompose.
If you are feeling rather "punny" today, comments are open. I'm sure the other two members of the Three Readers Club would enjoy your humorous thoughts.

Job Interview No-No's
Since many of the young adults I know go through job interviews every now and then, I thought the following tips might be helpful. Make sure to avoid these when having a job interview so as to increase your chances of getting hired.THINGS NOT TO DO OR SAY AT YOUR JOB INTERVIEW
~ See photo of interviewer's family on desk, point, and start laughing uncontrollably.
~ Ask if there is only one emergency exit, grin and say, "I bet this floor would be in trouble if someone barricaded that."
~ Inquire on office policy of friends staying over.
~ Over-emphasize your ability to use a copier.
~ Ask if it's OK for you to sit on the floor.
~ Admit having little impact on the overhead budget because you swiped all the supplies from your previous employer.
~ Although parking was free, insist they validate something or you're not leaving.
~ Mention your resume would have been stronger, but you didn't feel like making up anything else.
~ Walk into interviewer's office with a tape measure, measure office from a few angles, put away and declare: "NOW we can begin."
~ As you walk into the office for first time, ask receptionist to hold all your calls.

"I prefer my videos without chocolate..."
Well, when I got home from preaching the morning services, I sat down for lunch with my family. LeAnn turns to our 4-year-old and says, "hey, tell Daddy what video you got to watch in your class."
"LarryBoy!" (They watched one of the cartoon videos called "The Good, The Bad, and the Eggly")
"And did you like the LarryBoy video?" LeAnn asked.
"Yes, because it didn't have any chocolate in it!"

10 Ways to Hide Your Church
Personal NewsIt's been two weeks since I've blogged. The natural excuse is that I have been busy - which is quite true. But also, I felt like I needed to spend more of my time on the projects and people I need to than on reading and writing blogs during my day, so I've tried to discipine myself and use my time more wisely while in the office. I thought I'd be able to do some blogging in the evenings, but that hasn't happened (until tonight - which I probably shouldn't be doing even now since my in-laws are here to enjoy my girls' Spring Break). But it's not like I'm disappointing the masses by not blogging...
Personal Thoughts
I admit - I'm a church nerd. And if you are too (or have ever looked for a church to attend), then you'll like this blog post. I found it pretty funny (and inspiring).

Happy Grizzly Valentines Day!
My daughter is creating her own Valentine's Cards this year. And to make it truly original, she has written her own poem for the card. I just saw it for the first time on our home computer, and thought I would share it here to warm all of your hearts...Happy Valentine's Day
Howdy Hello.
Both mean the same stuff
Hello equals normal
But howdy more tough
This will be weird,
but I really don't care
A perfect Valentine present
is a Grizzly Bear
